Musings on Green Day.

"I wanna be the minority;
I don't need your authority.
Down with the moral majority,
'Cause I wanna be the minority!"

I first heard Green Day at the end of my junior year of high school. However, I knew of Green Day before that because of a friend of mine whose name was Becca. She loved Green Day and spent a lot of time listening to them when we had been at school together.

When I got my first MP3 player, I was searching around for music to put on it. Then, I got the brilliant idea to put some Green Day songs on it, and my life has not been the same since. The first song I ever heard was Minority, and it remains one of my favorites even now. Furthermore, I can proudly say that my first Green Day song was one of their older ones! Not many people can do that, especially after American Idiot came out, so I feel honored. Of course, I have other favorite songs, as well – but it would take too long to list them all.

My favorite band member is Tré Cool, the drummer, because he’s such a free spirit. He doesn’t seem to care what others think of him; he just does his own thing. In addition, he has a sense of humor very similar to my own, and he’s the most perverted man on the planet! His looks help quite a bit, too, but those are secondary to everything else.

Finally, I’d like to thank Billie Joe, Mike, and Tré for everything they’ve done. If it weren’t for them, I’d have never discovered Nine Inch Nails or The Ramones! Moreover, I probably wouldn’t have had the courage to move out or tell my parents I wanted to quit school for good. Therefore, I owe a lot to them and love them with all my heart. <3

More poetry and some ramblings.

I was looking through my documents folder, and I found a poem I wrote when I was sixteen. In fact, it's the poem I wrote for Leonard Nimoy when I went to my first Star Trek convention! I'm surprised, to say the least, because I'd thought it was lost when I got this computer. So, without further ado...

Ode to Leonard Nimoy
By Sarah

I saw you first as Mr. Spock,
With your emotions tightly locked.
I read your second book,
Into your life I got a look.

You directed movies three and four,
And I was left wanting more.
In The Undiscovered Country, you said farewell,
With your voice sounding clear as a bell.

Out of all photographers,
You are the one I prefer.
You love poetry as I do,
Let me give this poem to you.

I did not always like you this much,
It was on Spock that I had the crush.
Now I like both of you,
And wish you to tell Spock, too.

I saw you in a TV ad,
Seeing you in it made me glad.
That commercial was your best work yet,
And a nice end to the entire set.

You said you would never hurt a fan,
Never place a restraining ban.
I ask you this from interest,
Why can’t crazier fans take a rest?

Live long and prosper, Mr. Spock,
With your emotions under a thick lock.
Good luck to you, Mr. Nimoy,
In whatever your talent shall employ.

Poems and an apology.

Okay, so I know I haven't updated in awhile, and for that I apologize. It's just that I've had a lot going on lately -- what with my grandma in hospice care and all my appointments and whatnot -- so please forgive the long silence.

I wrote some poetry about Erik awhile ago, and now I'm realizing this is a good place to post it.  Therefore, without further ado...

Erik's Sonata
by Sarah
May 19, 2010

No love or respect; only a mask,
The gypsies' trap and a sense of not belonging,
Removing the mask for others and Luciana's desire.
I am dying of love, Daroga...
Oh, Erik...

The Nameless One

In the darkness, I watch, I wait.
I succumb to the shadows of night.
She calls me Angel.
But to them I am the nameless one.

My first love.

James and I met on May 24, 2008 because we're both members of The Phantom's Opera, which is a forum dedicated to The Phantom of the Opera. We became friends fairly quickly, and soon discovered we had more in common than just our taste in musicals. After about three or four months, I realized that what I felt was more than friendship, and began a quest to show James how I felt. The clincher to the whole situation came in the middle of January, when James left his phone at school and had little to no access to a computer for two days straight. When he called on the third day, I was more than ready to yell at him, but I kept my cool and explained how I'd felt as though he had abandoned me. It was only then, after we'd hung up, that I realized I was madly in love with him. The catch? He lives in Hawaii, and I in California.

February 24, 2009 started out like a normal day. I went to school, to the dentist, and came home. However, if I'd known what was in store for me, I sure wouldn't have called it a "normal" day! That night, James and I were chatting on Yahoo Messenger (as is custom for us when we're not on the phone) and I asked if it was possible to miss someone you'd never met. He was unsure, but said he missed me, too. Then I got quite bold and confessed my feelings for him, mentioning that I'd noticed some changes in his behavior. It turned out he'd been harboring feelings for me, too! After that came some talk about whether we wanted to be in a relationship or not, because as he said, "Long-distance isn't for everyone."

On December 23, 2010, I broke up with James after several months of feeling as though the relationship was going nowhere and that it was turning into more of a friendship. We have no regrets because we ended it on good terms, and we're doing our best to stay friends.

The terrible twosome... XD
